Covalent bonding is a type of chemical bonding that involves the sharing of electrons to form electron pairs between atoms. Atoms connected with covalent bonds form a molecule that can maintain a stable conformation within a range of temperature and pressure. Covalent bonds can only be broken through chemical reactions. The following simulation shows how benzene molecules formed by covalent bonds move, rotate, vibrate, and interact with one another.
